Effect of shade on solar radiation on absorber plate
The amount of solar radiation on the absorber plate is less than the amount falling on a
tilted surface having the same angle as the absorber plate but situated in the open. This is due
to the shading cast on the absorber plate by several collector components:
Shade by the neighboring absorber plates (shade length = s 1 )
Shade by the neighboring glass tubes (shade length = s 2 )
Shade by the header box of the collector (shade length = s 3 )
