particularly popular. “We do all types of events,” he says, “The bar is perfect for that and
we give out good prizes.”

Even the music is varied, to reflect the party goers it attracts. That's something Jarris
has made a priority. “We play all types of music: Bachata, Salsa, Reggae, House…a little
of everything,” he says. “We please the people. If the people want to listen to any song,
we play it for them. It's not like the DJ who plays only what he wants. My staff works so
that other people can have fun. They don't belong to the party; they are working so that the
person who is paying can have a good time.”
It's obvious that Jarris takes having fun seriously. Jarris prides himself on running a
great bar where people can have a good time and dance the night away without any trouble.
“I want the bar to have a certain level,” he says. “I make sure that nothing goes wrong.
I'm very professional.” That goes from meeting all the safety requirements for the build-
ing to providing handicap facilities and enforcing the appropriate laws. “Underage people
are prohibited,” Jarris explains, “By law there can't be anyone under 18 in the place. That
would be a huge problem.” He loves seeing people having a good time in his bar, but only
if they are meant to be there.
Looking out across the crowded dance floor it seems that plenty of people want to
take Jarris up on his offer of a great time. Having been open less than two years, Jarris is
humbled by the support. “It makes me happy to see that people notice that I'm trying to
do things right,” he says. “Thank you very much for valuing the hard work. All that makes
you a better person - it stimulates you to do even more.”
And so the night beat goes on, with music, dancing, and drinking, all in the spirit of a
memory-making good time.
