Driving Tips
1.If you rent a car expect Ticos to pass you on curves.
2.If a Tico blinks his lights at you it can mean a variety of things.
a.There may be police up ahead with a radar gun.
b.There's an accident ahead.
c.If you're trying to make a turn, a Tico in oncoming traffic is signaling you that he's
letting you in.
d.He thinks he knows you and he's flashing you “hello.”
3. There aren't many sidewalks in Manuel Antonio and you'll sometimes see Ticos
walking 4 or 5 abreast in the street. Don't honk, just go around them.
4.Honking your horn is considered rude except in San Jose.
5.Sometimes a driver in the car in front of you will stop:
a.To make a cell phone call.
b.To talk to someone they know on the road. Go around them if you can. If you can't
get around them be patient, they'll probably be done in a couple of minutes. They
aren'ttryingtoinconvenienceyou.Iftheywereinthesamesituationtheywouldn't
care and they assume you won't either.
