In-Depth Information
On the other side of Playa Manuel Antonio is Playa Espadilla Sur, an extension of
the main Espadilla beach separated by an estuary and a rocky outcrop. It's less swimmer-
friendly than Playa Manuel Antonio, with its strong currents and heavier surf, but it's still
a spot of immense beauty.
Playa Escondido is the most remote beach in the park, farthest from the entrance and it
draws fewer visitors than the others. Tourists should be prepared for a reasonable hike, but
once there the views from the cliff overlooking the small bay are spectacular. This secluded
and scenic spot, often awash with driftwood, is definitely worth the trip, but one word of
warning: don't get caught there at high tide, as the ocean comes right up to the cliffs! You
do, after all, want to be around to share your memories and adventures.
