In-Depth Information
According to NEF's research, Costa Rica is the happiest country in the world. It could
be due in part to the peaceful nature of the country. Costa Rica hasn't felt the need to main-
tain an army since 1949. That means the government directs its spending into schools and
hospitals instead of tanks and guns.
It might also be because the locals live in harmony with their beautiful environment.
The average Costa Rican's carbon footprint is one third the size of that of a U.S. Citizen's.
In addition Costa Rica has committed to being carbon neutral within seven years.
