Desiree Brassert is comfortable in the kitchen —anyone'skitchen. Her easy smile and ready
laugh make you feel right at home, which is a perfect combination for the private villa and
vacation rental guests she often cooks for.
“I remember always being in the kitchen,” she tells me. “I was always making cookies
for my family, always trying to bother-slash-help! It doesn't surprise me much that I've be-
come a personal chef.” It may surprise a few others as her college days were filled with his-
tory and political science. Her childhood dreams of becoming a vet or a lawyer are a far cry
from pots and pans, but anyone who has been around the Manuel Antonio area in the last
seven years is well aware of her culinary skills.
Desiree didn't follow the traditional route into the food industry. She's self-taught and
is happily still learning. Trial and error is not something she's afraid of when she's experi-
menting with ideas for her menus.
“Food is definitely a passion of mine. I'm always out looking for the next yummy
meal!”
