In the off-season there is no requirement to tramp the track with prescribed stops, and the
GUIDED TRAMPS
guided tramps of the Milford Track. Its five-day tramp features comfortable lodge accom-
modation, meals and expert interpretation. The trip costs $2095 in high season (1 December
to 31 March), and $1930 in the shoulder (all November and the first two weeks of April).
You're best to book early, but it isn't always necessary.

Getting to/from the Tramp
TO THE START
The track starts at Glade Wharf, which lies at the head of Lake Te Anau and is accessed by a
scheduled, twice-daily 1½-hour boat trip from Te Anau Downs. Te Anau Downs is 27km
from Te Anau on the road to Milford Sound and has a car-parking area if you wish to leave
your vehicle.
Scheduled bus services from Te Anau to meet the boat at Te Anau Downs are run by
leaving Te Anau at 9.45am and 12.15pm ($25). It is based at Te Anau Lakeview Kiwi Holi-
day Park, where there is secure parking.
