MAPS & BROCHURES
Maps required for the entire loop are NZTopo50 CB9 (Hollyford), CB10 (Glenorchy) and
CC9 (North Mavora Lake). The track is also covered by NewTopo Routeburn, Greenstone
1:40,000. DOC's brochure is entitled The Greenstone Caples Track.
HUTS, CAMPING & BOOKINGS
There are four Serviced huts ( www.doc.govt.nz; $15) between the two tracks: McKellar and
Greenstone on the Greenstone, and Mid Caples and Upper Caples on the Caples. All have
heating, but no stoves, and rangers are likely to be in the vicinity from late October until
mid-April to keep things in check. Camping ($5) is permitted next to the huts. Obtain hut
tickets from DOC visitor centres nationwide.
INFORMATION SOURCES
DOC Queenstown Visitor Centre ( Click here ) , upstairs in Outside Sports, is the place to ar-
range logistics, obtain maps, passes and track updates and hire personal locator beacons.
DOC Fiordland National Park Visitor Centre ( Click here ) is close to the shores of Lake Te
Anau and has friendly staff who can help with all tramping arrangements, weather forecasts
and info on track conditions.
8 Getting to/from the Tramp
Buckley Transport ( Click here ) provides on-demand track transport between Queenstown
and the Divide ($90). The Divide is also serviced in summer by Kiwi Discovery ( Click
here ) and Te Anau-based Tracknet ( Click here ) .
Glenorchy Journeys ( Click here ) offers on-demand, flexible transport services to Green-
stone car park from Queenstown/Glenorchy ($55/35).
