This track is so well trodden that a topographical map isn't essential for navigation. The

HUTS, CAMPING & LODGES
There are eight huts in the park. Anchorage, Bark Bay, Awaroa and Whariwharangi lie along
the Coast Track and are designated
Great Walk huts

. These have bunks, tables,
benches and heating, flush toilets, and washbasins with cold water only. There are no cook-
ing facilities or lighting. There are also 19 designated
Great Walk campsites

As the Abel Tasman Track is a Great Walk, all huts and campsites must be booked in ad-
vance year-round. Bookings can be made online through

or at any DOC visitor centre.
DOC hut tickets and annual passes cannot be used on the track, and there is a two-night
limit on staying in huts or campsites. The exception is Totaranui, which has a one-night lim-
it for trampers. Penalty fees of up to 100% will apply to those who do not have a valid
booking, and you may be required to leave the park.
