The tramp is covered by

(Pipiriki),
BH33
(Retaruke) and

(Raetihi). A
simplified map is included in DOC's
Mangapurua/Kaiwhakauka Tracks
brochure, but this
is not suitable for navigation.
CAMPING & LODGES
There are no huts along these tracks but there are plenty of campsites, with Whakahoro the
only one you need to pay for ($10).

Getting to/from the Tramp
Whakahoro is reached by road from SH4, turning off at either Owhango or Raurimu.
National Park (

is a good base for setting off from for both Whakahoro or
Ruatiti, as it is well serviced with lodging and shuttle-bus services.
From the end of the track at Mangapurua Landing, you can jetboat out to Pipiriki with

, a jetboat service that can collect you and return you to Whakahoro
($160 per person; minimum three people).
From Pipiriki you can either head out 28km east to Raetihi, Ohakune or National Park;
Whanganui River Adventures runs shuttles to all three. Otherwise, you can return to Whan-
ganui, 79km south. This route is serviced by the mail run courtesy of

which leaves Pipiriki around 4pm. It also runs transport in the
other direction, from Whanganui, leaving 7am, to Pipiriki (one way/return $30/63).
