Auckland International Airport (AKL; 09-275 0789; www.aucklandairport.co.nz; Ray Emery Dr,
Mangere) , 21km (35 minutes) south of the city centre, is the main gateway to NZ and a hub
for domestic flights, most of which are operated by Air New Zealand ( 0800 737 000;
www.airnewzealand.co.nz ) .
InterCity ( 09-623 1503; www.intercitycoach.co.nz ) buses depart from the SkyCity Coach
Terminal ( 09-913 6220; 102 Hobson St) . Major routes, with multiple daily departures, in-
clude Rotorua (four hours), Taupo (five hours), New Plymouth (six hours) and Wellington
(11 hours). Other coach companies depart from 172 Quay St, opposite the Ferry Building on
the waterfront, including Naked Bus ( 0900 62533; www.nakedbus.com ) , which travels north
to Kerikeri (four hours) and as far south as Wellington (12 hours), as well as heading to
Tauranga (3½ hours) and Napier (seven hours).
