Fiordland & Stewart Island/Rakiura
National Parks
Rugged Fiordland National Park is the country's biggest, and one half of Te Wahipounamu
- Southwest New Zealand World Heritage area. Smaller Rakiura National Park still takes up
around 85% of Stewart Island.
Epic Scenery
The jewel in the crown is remarkable Milford Sound, but take your time exploring the
Eglinton Valley on your way to Milford and enjoy the remote appeal of Stewart Island.
Bird Life
Stewart Island is home to a rich bird population boasting more than 100 species including a
flotilla of seabirds. It's also your best chance of seeing a kiwi (or at least hearing one) in the
wild.
