4.2.1 Design of the Stringers (Longitudinal Floor Beams)
Let us start by designing the stringers, the longitudinal steel beams, support-
ing the track as shown in Figure 4.1 .

Dead Loads

Half weight of the track load ¼ 3kN = m

Weight of stringer bracing ¼ 0 : 3kN = m

Own weight of stringer ¼ 1 : 5kN = m

Total dead load ¼ g vk ¼ 4 : 8kN = m
