Getting There & Away
GUAGUA
Transporte La Cobra ( 809-539-2119) services Santiago (RD$300, two hours) and Santo
Domingo (RD$300, 2½ hours). Other guaguas travel to Jarabacoa (RD$150, 40 minutes).
Guaguas also regularly service El Albanico (RD$160, 40 minutes), where you can change
for a guagua to Santo Domingo and La Vega.
CAR
The roadway between Jarabacoa and Constanza, once jaw-rattlingly bad, has been com-
pletely paved. Compact cars can make the trip in around 45 minutes to an hour depending
on how many slow moving trucks are navigating the switchbacks. If coming from Hwy
Duarte, the turn-off at El Albanico is 89km north of Santo Domingo, and from there it's
