Plata airport.' A taxi from the airport to Sosúa is US$25. You can also walk 500m from
the terminal to the highway and flag down a passing guagua (RD$15, 10 minutes).
BUS
Metro Tours ( 809-571-1324; cnr Av Luperón & Calle Dr Rosen) has its depot on the highway in
the middle of town. It runs services to Santiago (RD$200, two hours) and onward to Santo
Domingo (RD$380, five hours, 8:20am, 10:20am, 1:20pm, 3:20pm and 5:50pm; also
2:20pm and 4:20pm Sundays). Caribe Tours ( 809-571-3808) has a depot on the highway
at the edge of Los Charamicos neighborhood, 1km southwest of the city center. It offers a
service from Sosúa to Santo Domingo (RD$320, hourly from 5:20am to 6:20pm). Grab
the same bus for Puerto Plata (RD$35, 20 minutes), Santiago (RD$170) and La Vega
(RD$200). Bring warm socks, a sweatshirt (the air-con is on high) and earplugs (the sound
from pirated DVDs is on full blast).
El Canarío ( 809-291-5594) is a Puerto Plata-based bus that leaves daily to Samaná
(RD$250, three hours) at 7am from the main parada (bus stop). Be sure to call the day be-
fore to reserve your seat.
GUAGUA
For eastbound destinations along the coast, go to the highway and flag down any passing
guagua . They pass every 15 minutes or so, with services to Puerto Plata (RD$35, 30
minutes), Cabarete (RD$25, 20 minutes) and Río San Juan (RD$75, 1½ hours).
Getting Around
You can walk just about everywhere in Sosúa, except to the hotels east of the center,
which are better reached by motoconcho or taxi. The former are easy to find around town,
while shared and private taxis for intercity travel along the coast can be located at a taxi
stand ( 809-571-3093) on the corner of Calles Morris Ling and Arzeno. A trip to Cabarete
should run around RD$500.
To rent a car, make your way to the airport (8km away).
