Kitesurfing & Windsurfing
Second only to Cabarete, Las Terrenas is a good place to try out a windsport in the DR.
The beach at Punta Popy, only 1km or so east of the main intersection, is a popular place
for kitesurfers and windsurfers. Be on the lookout for the new Centro Nautico (
829-286-4735; ltsailingclub@gmail.com ; Playa Las Ballenas) , which will offer rental equipment for
windsurfing, sailing, catamarans and Stand Up Paddle in Playa Las Ballenas.

school run by a friendly Frenchman who speaks Spanish and English as well. It rents surf-
boards (per day US$15) and kitesurfing equipment (per day US$70) and provides lessons
for both these activities. Six hours of kitesurfing lessons (really the minimum needed to
have a sporting chance of making it work) cost US$300; a two-hour surfing lesson is
US$40.
