Las Terrenas might not be that close to the Parque Nacional Los Haitises, but
since so few independent travelers make it to Sabana de la Mar, the closest entrance to the
park, Las Terrenas has become a popular place to book trips there.
Flora Tours is a recommended operator, but virtually every company in town offers ex-
cursions to Los Haitises, though generally only twice a week unless you're part of a group
of six or more, in which case you can arrange trips at your own convenience. There
should be at least one company with a tour on offer five days a week, but schedules
change, so it's best to book as soon as you arrive in town.
