Pierre and Monick, the charming French-Canadian owners of this B&B, are consummate
hosts and rent out two rooms on either side of their cozy home - each room has a separate
entrance and hammock - only 25m or so north of the main intersection on your right as
you're walking toward the beach.
The house is fronted by a long, well-maintained garden where tasty breakfasts (includ-
ing delicious homemade bread) are served (RD$350 for nonguests). When you tire of
DR's ubiquitous restaurant offerings, Monick can whip up a Thai dinner for you. It's def-
initely not the fanciest spot in town, but it offers the warmest hospitality.

Living up
to its 'All White' name, this whitewashed, well-established inn sits atop a small hillock a
short walk from the end of the main drag in Las Galeras. Rooms are large and airy, with
high ceilings, private terraces overlooking the sea, and pastel headboards, while the multi-
level grounds are nicely appointed with gardens and a gazebo.
Cheerful owner Maurizio is a fun guy to sip an espresso with, and he makes dedicated
fresh-fruit runs to Samaná to provide guests' breakfasts (an extra RD$300).

This beautiful house, a kilometer
from both the main intersection and Playita, is decked out in Mexican-style interiors by
the American-Dominican owners. Four rooms are available; the largest and most expens-
ive comes with a Jacuzzi.
There are ample spots for relaxing, from expansive hammock-strung terraces to cozy
living rooms - if the weather turns sour, this is where you want to be. Breakfast in the gor-
geous kitchen is the real deal and guests from other hotels often find their way here, happy
to fork over US$8 for the privilege.
