Though it hasn't aged as well as we would have liked, you'll be pleasantly
surprised as you walk past the nondescript entrance to the charming back room, where
you'll find no views whatsoever, just an intimate dining spot that's all about pizza and
pasta. Their best pie (La Roberto: prosciutto, fresh tomatoes, arugula, freshly grated
Grano parmesan and truffle oil) disappointed us on our most recent visit, but it's still bet-
ter than any of the other Italian options in town.
L'Hacienda Restaurant

A friendly
French chef-owner with a Spanish name (José) has been running this intimate French-
Caribbean spot since 1996. It's a small and simple menu whose highlights are the meat
and seafood grills.

A reliable Malecón
mainstay, La Mata Rosada has a more extensive menu of seafood and grills than others in
its price range. The sophisticated front patio is the town's most formal, but that doesn't
mean it's immune to

exhaust. The small bar is one of the classier in town.
