809-959-8021; www.copaair.com ) , Delta ( 809-959-2009; www.delta.com ) , Gol ( 809-959-3014;
www.voegol.com.br ) , Frontier ( 809-959-3014; www.flyfrontier.com ) , JetBlue ( 809-959-1490;
www.jetblue.com ) , and United ( 809-959-2039; www.united.com ) , but they are tucked away be-
hind the scenes and hard to find. Other airlines serving the Punta Cana airport include
Airtran, US Airways, Air Canada, Avianca, KLM, Spirit and Westjet, among a wide-range
of charter carriers.
For domestic air connections, Dominican Shuttles ( in Santo Domingo 809-738-3014;
www.dominicanshuttles.com ) has direct domestic flights on five- and 19-seat planes between
Punta Cana and Samaná's Aeropuerto Internacional Arroyo Barril (one way $159, 8am
Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday).
There are Banco Popular ATMs located in the arrivals area in both terminals and an in-
ternet facility in Terminal A. Several car agencies have small booths near baggage claim,
including Avis ( 809-688-1354; www.avis.com.do ; Aeropuerto Internacional Punta Cana) , Budget (
809-959-1005; www.budget.com ) , Hertz (
809-959-0365; www.hertz.com ) and Sixt (
829-576-4700; www.sixt.com ) .
Resort minivans transport the majority of tourists to nearby resorts, but taxis are plenti-
ful. Fares between the airport and area resorts and hotels range between US$30 and
US$80 depending on the destination.
BUS
The new 70km Autopista del Coral, from La Romana to Punta Cana, opened in 2012 to
great fanfare, cutting drive time from Santo Domingo to Punta Cana by two hours. The
toll charge runs RD$150.
The bus terminal is located on Av Estados Unidos in Friusa, near the main intersection in
Bávaro, almost 2km inland from El Cortecito.
Expreso Santo Domingo Bávaro ( 809-552-1678; Av Estados Unidos) has direct 1st-class ser-
vice between Bávaro and the capital (RD$400, three hours). Departure times in both dir-
ections are 7am, 9am, 11am, 1pm, 3pm and 4pm.
From the same terminal, Sitrabapu ( 809-552-0771; Av Estados Unidos) , more or less the
same company, has departures to La Romana at 6am, 8:20am, 10:50am, 1:20pm, 3:50pm
and 6:20pm (RD$225, 1¼ hours); and to Higüey (RD$130, one hour, every 15 minutes,
