In-Depth Information
The hip, white-on-white space reeks of cool, but the Dominican comfort menu is high-
lighted by some wild cards such as spicy Dominican goat (US$14) and criolla-style lambi
(conch; US$12) as well as staples like the wonderful grouper al ajillo . It's atmospheric at
night, but its hard to skip the swirl of turquoise across your plate at lunchtime.
Drinking & Entertainment
Nightlife is big business in Bávaro. Many resorts have nightclubs and there is a slew of in-
dependent bars in and around the beaches near Los Corales and El Cortecito. The hottest
clubs of the moment change like baby's diapers - best to check the ground running.

BAR

( www.onnosbar.com ; Calle Pedro Mir, Bávaro) This open-air bar right on El Cortecito beach is
without question the best independent spot to catch a cocktail, which you can down to DJs
spinning Haitian Creole jams one minute, 'Gangnam Style' the next. Cool people, cool at-
mosphere.
Mangú

( www.mangudiscobar.com ; Occidental Grand Flamenco, Bávaro; 11pm-late) While most discos in
Punta Cana come and go, Mangú perseveres; after over a decade in, locals still tout it as
the best club in town. In high season, it's merengue , bachata and hip-hop on the bottom
floor and EDM up the stairs. There is a sex tourism component at work here, but everyone
else happily mixes in.
NIGHTCLUB
Information
Most of Bávaro's services are located in one of several outdoor plazas (malls) just north of
El Cortecito, the small one-road enclave where there's another cluster of shops and tour
companies.
Almost every major Dominican bank has at least one branch in the Bávaro area. The
banks listed here have ATMs. You'll also find BanReservas/Banco Progresso ATMs at
Plaza Estrella and a Banco Popular ATM at Barceló Dominican Beach Resort between El
Cortecito and Los Corales.
