(Paseo Presidente Billini; RD$350; 11am-late) This casual open-air restaurant perched over
the ocean only a few blocks from the Zona Colonial is one of only a few restaurants to
take advantage of the Malecón's setting. The large menu includes fajitas, grilled and bar-
becue meats, sandwiches, seafood cazuela (RD$400) and little-found pulpofongo ( mo-
fongo with Creole-style cuttlefish; RD$330). It's a wonderful place for a drink as well.

( 809-682-0836; Calle Arzobispo Portes 151; mains RD$250-500) As homey as you can get, Casa
Olivier feels like you've stumbled upon a set: an upper-middle-class, mid-20th-century
Dominican living and dining room. Traditionally furnished and intimate, it also has a tiny
stage and a piano and offers live music some nights. It has a small menu of lovingly pre-
pared meat and pasta dishes. Service can be very slow.
Dajao & Mimosa Restaurant & Bar

side much like an ordinary comedor (eatery) - share a kitchen and you can order from
either menu regardless of where you sit. The former has mains like rib eye (RD$675) and
fish in coconut soup (RD$375), while the latter does a filling plato del dia (dish of the
day; RD$275).

diminutive version of Pizza Hut, and a step up in quality, Pizzarelli anchors a strategic
Zona Colonial intersection. It sells pizza by the slice (RD$125) and personal pizzas
(RD$265), plus less than stellar strombolis, calzones and pasta. A spot for gelato is at-
tached.
