12:30pm Sat) Incongruously located on the 5th floor of the Honda building, which
looks like a parking garage, is this significant private collection of Dominican painting
and sculpture from the late 19th century to the 1960s.

Instituto Intercultural del Caribe

dozen price combinations are offered here, depending on the length and intensity of in-
struction and whether or not accommodations are included. It also offers merengue dance
lessons (eight hours of private lessons US$75) and maintains a language school in Sosúa.

guage instruction, this the only language school in the Zona Colonial. A week-long course
consists of 20 lessons per week (four 50-minute classes per day). Prices begin at US$140,
and accommodations, from homestays to hotels, can be arranged. Cooking (private
US$48) and dance classes are also offered.
Tours
Interesting and informative walking tours of the Zona Colonial are offered on a daily basis
by a number of official guides - look for men dressed in khakis and light-blue dress shirts,
but always ask to see their official tourism license. Walks typically last 2½ hours and cost
US$20 to US$30 depending on the language that the tour is given in (Spanish and English
are less expensive). To find a guide, head to Parque Colón - you'll find a number of them
under the trees. Be sure to agree upon a fee before setting out.
Motorized scooters, sort of a cross between Segways and skateboards, are available for

US$35; 9am-6pm) , a new business on Parque Colon; audio guides included. A more leis-
