Opened and owned by the small indie record label, Caravan records, this under-
ground club is a pretty slick spot, a great venue for concerts, but also a good place to
chill out with the cool crowd at the bar.

BALTIC HOUSE
Known under the Soviets as Lenin Komsomol Theatre, this large venue has long hos-
ted an annual festival of plays from the Baltic countries. Renamed in 1991, Baltic
House also stages Russian and European plays, as well as a new and growing reper-
toire of experimental theatre.
SHOPPING
While the Petrograd Side has far fewer shopping options than the historic heart,
it is nonetheless an inviting place to shop, its sidewalks lined with food stores,
clothing boutiques and the odd speciality shop. The Vyborg Side, by comparis-
