Visiting the Fortress
Enter the fortress from the eastern side of the island. Just inside the main gate is a
useful information office, where you can pick up a free map in English and buy tickets.
You can also buy an overall ticket (adult/student R350/170), which allows access to all
of the exhibitions on the island (except the bell tower, paid for separately) for two days.
Another good-value ticket, valid just for one day, includes entry to the two main
sights of the fortress: the SS Peter and Paul Cathedral and the Trubetskoy Bas-
tion (adult/student R280/150).
