Sat; Sennaya Ploshchad)
One of the few recommendable bars around insalubrious
Sennaya pl, Bardak nevertheless has a fairly grizzled student clientele. The exposed
brick walls plastered with photos, rickety mezzanine level and dishevelled but hip
crowd add up to explain why this groovy little bar was named after the Russian word
for 'mess'.

BAAR
HUNDERTWASSER BAR
This new addition to the Mariinsky's drinking scene is popular with students from the
Rimsky-Korsakov Conservatory across the street and often hosts informal jam ses-
sions. Even when these aren't going on, this is a very pleasant, bohemian spot to
drink, with two comfortable rooms stuffed full of old furniture that are both perfect
for lounging.
PUUB
SHAMROCK
odd to pop in for a pint after watching ballerinas dance across
Swan Lake,
but that is
what many theatre-goers do. This friendly Irish-owned pub opposite the Mariinsky
Theatre attracts a steady stream of foreigners and locals.
