In-Depth Information
has helped considerably with data gathering and useful discussion. We would
also like to thank all the staff of the Archives and Special Collections at
Southampton University who maintain the Historic River Data Archive for
their expertise and patient cooperation. Among them, Karen Robson has been
our main contact and advisor. Thanks also to various sections of the Environ-
ment Agency who responded to our requests for data and to EA biological
staff at Colden Common near Winchester for their help with data acquisition.
The earliest raw data records from the 1950s to the 1980s, retained in the
archive, originate from the work of Mr Frank Woodiwiss, Biologist to the Trent
River Board and his staff for which we are eternally grateful. The data are
retained and archived in the Archives and Special Collections of Southampton
University Library. Our grateful thanks also go to the editors of this topic and
especially to Dr Lesley Batty for her help at the conference and with amend-
ments to this chapter.
