Slash-and-burn and slash without burning (proka)
For week 1 organic matter content (OM) appeared to be slightly higher under the
proka (P) than the slash-and-burn plot, although by week 5, OM content on slash-
and-burn was appreciably higher than on the slash-no-burn plot at the different
soil depths (Table 14.4).
For week 1 the phosphorus content between 0 and 10 cm depth was higher
in the soil of the slash-and-burn than that of slash-no-burn, although between
10 and 30 cm soil depth, phosphorus content of the soil under the slash-
no-burn system was higher than under the slash-and-burn (Table 14.4).
By week 5 the phosphorus content in the soil under the slash-no-burn system
was higher at all depths when compared to the soil of the slash-and-burn.
