In-Depth Information
About 180 miles northwest of Buenos Aires, the Rio ParanĂ¡ is a sharp dividing line.
On one side, prime real estate for humans: Rosario, one of Argentina 's biggest cit-
ies, is a busy port that ships out tons of grain and other locally grown products.
On the other side, prime real estate for capybaras: soggy wetlands alongside the
continent's second-longest river appeal to the planet's largest rodents, which are
semi-aquatic. The ParanĂ¡ is also home to many different types of birds and fish, in-
cluding piranhas (which have been known to enjoy the occasional capybara).
