4.3 Structures
The sub-project “Quality Management” has to be established once a critical size of
the tasks ahead has been reached. Contents and responsibilities have to be defined in
detail and allocated to different function owners if necessary. The following areas
have to be attended to:
• General administration
• Project management; tool
• Documentation
• Scheduling and control
• Reporting
• Budget management
• Acceptance procedures
• Acceptance results.
It is not necessary to install a separate manager for each of these areas. Quite
often certain tasks can be attended to by one and the same resource, for example
administration and the deployment of project management tools. It is important that
responsibilities have been defined and work contents taken into account. In regular
team meetings (not in the acceptance reviews, however!) work progress has to be
reported and serve as a basis for consolidated reporting to higher levels.
4.4 Mapping of Project Structures
The detailed structure of responsibilities with its work content can be mapped
perfectly to a directory structure residing on a dedicated logical disk drive. An
example structure is shown in Fig. 4.8 .
