Quality Management as a Sub-project
4.1 Project Environment
Additionally to defining tasks and the overall project organisation it is indispensible
to equip the project itself with sufficient instruments so that responsibilities remain
transparent and frictional losses at all execution levels are minimised. Some of the
most important aspects in an implementation project are efficient communication
paths and documenting the project progress. Escalation paths are part of all communi-
cation procedures. Documentation means consolidated progress reports for manage-
ment, but also recording work progress in detail.
To maintain communication and documentation in consultation with all respon-
sible parties appropriate organisational and technical structures have to be
implemented—prior to project launch. With a view on technical possibilities
there exist a multitude of tools on offer today from the vast pool of office and
web technologies. This leads to a freedom of choice, which is not meant to be
restricted by the following proposals. In the end, type and capabilities of the
instruments to be used are of secondary importance, if only the objectives of the
tasks at hand will be met.
4.2 Communication and Documentation
4.2.1 Routine Communication
There exist several processes with respect to routine communication important to
an acceptance project. Basically one distinguishes between internal and external
communication. Internally communication paths are responsible for the dissemi-
nation of information within the sub-project “Quality Management”. External
communication deals both with reporting to the overall project management and
informing line management about important developments.
