THE SECOND TEMPLE
Built in the 6th century BC on the same site
as the First Temple, which was destroyed
by the Babylonians in 587 BC, the Second
Temple was greatly expanded by Herod
the Great (37-4 BC). He nearly doubled
the size of the Inner Temple.
