With this issue resolved, there is an extra detail that we can use to turn this flat
surface into something more interesting to our eyes. How can we do this? Again,
let's have a look at the following screenshot:
In the left image, we can easily spot a flat surface with an assigned texture, and this
could be OK in a situation when the surface is going to be far away from the camera.
Also, this surface gives an idea of the material used. However, the image on the right
side shows the same image, but in this case, we used the Bump setting to add more
depth and realism to the surface. We are not adding more geometry; instead, we are
given instructions on how the light should react with the surface and because of the
texture used, we can achieve this level of detail. We will see how we can create a
similar texture to use with your own materials.
