Two exclusive effects - Sound and
Stereoscopic
The Sound effect is something you would want to use in your scene to eliminate
the need of extra software to add sound to the video. This is not the same as adding
sound to the project using the sounds available in Lumion. Let's say the client wants
to do a voice-over for the movie, explaining what the viewer is seeing in each shot.
For this to happen, we have to use the Sound effect that becomes available only once
we move to the Entire Movie mode.
Have you ever seen a movie with 3D glasses? Actually, it is not 3D, but instead
stereoscopic, which is a technique to enhance the illusion of depth in an image or a
movie. Lumion can produce a 3D movie or to be precise, a stereoscopic movie. We
need special eyeglasses ensuring that our left eye sees only the left image and the
right eye sees only the right image.
Before we cover more effects that can bring further realism and a special touch to the
movie, let's see two important aspects that can expand the workflow in this mode.
Best practices - copying effects from the
Photo mode
Let's look at the best practices to copy effects from the Photo mode. That's right!
Typically, a project can be a series of still images and small clips that are combined
together and provide all the visual aids that are indispensable for the client.
Normally, the images come first and all our hard work, including tweaking and
adjusting the effect's parameters, can and should be copied from the Photo to Movie
modes. This is also possible the other way around. There are some restrictions while
copying effects from the Movie to Photo mode, but these are related only to the
animation effects. Also, this is not a magic formula because we still need to adjust
some effects in particular when working with global illumination and depth of field.
