A practical application for the God Rays effect
God Rays is one of those effects that can only be used from time to time. Is this
true? Although the God Rays effect found under the Artistic tab is used primarily
to create, that is right God Rays , in reality, we can reproduce a haze. Haze is an
atmospheric phenomenon where dust and other particles change the clarity of the
sky. The settings available with this effect are Decay , Length , and Intensity that
need to be tweaked according to your scene in order to create this effect, as shown in
the following screenshot:
Before we move to the final topic about Rendering still images , let's have a look at two
final effects that can also help to enhance the scene.
Working with Horizon and Volume Clouds
The first effect that we will see is called Horizon Cloud and can be found under the
Weather tab. The settings available are very simple because we can only change the
amount and the type of clouds and add some softness to the clouds, but the final
result will be something like this:
