The Memory option is the setting that probably doesn't increase the render time at
all because it only uses a static 128 x 128 pixel texture, but the shadow quality is very
low. However, there are some tricks to improve not only the interior lighting, but
also the reflections. The following screenshot is the comparison between the three
different options:
Working with Global illumination
Lumion is a real-time application, as mentioned several times throughout this topic,
and to keep up with this quality, some corners need to be cut out. Global illumination
can include the darkening under an object and near edges and, color bleeding or, in
other words, it simulates how light is transferred between surfaces in your 3D scene
and it will greatly increase the realism of your scene. This is something that requires
loads of processor power, and if Lumion did that in real time, we would need a super
computer. For this reason, we need to simulate this global illumination to improve the
quality of our renders, particularly when doing interior lighting.
Lumion has a way to simulate global illumination, and this effect can be found in the
World tab under the name Global Illumination . This will add the following module
to our scene, as shown in the following screenshot:
