In-Depth Information
Firstly, we have to open the Lumion material library and try to find a material that
is similar to the texture we have. After finding the material, the next step is to assign
the material to the surface, and this will work as a way to cut some corners. But how?
Well, after assigning the material, all we have to do is open the Textures menu in
the material properties and here we will find two slots with textures. One is the
diffuse texture and when we select it, a window opens to load a new texture. The
other slot, called normal map, is also imported because we need this information to
add the bump effect, so have a look at the Creating bump maps section found in this
chapter. This is an easy and quick way to use external textures without too many
adjustments, as exemplified in the following screenshot:
When there is more time, the best habit is to use the Standard material that we are
going to explore in the next topic.
The Standard material
The Standard material is Lumion's way of giving you the opportunity to start a
material from scratch. Almost every material found in Lumion is produced using
this Standard material; this shows how powerful Lumion's material system can be.
