Checking Email
Android devices usually come with two email apps, a general email app and one specifically
for Google's Gmail. However, there are plenty of other email apps you can install.
Gmail
If you already have a Google account, you will have signed into it when you first set up
the new device. To use Gmail simply open the Gmail app. The app gives you most of the
power of desktop web-based Gmail, with the notable exception being that you can't send
email blasts to groups that you've created in Gmail Contacts.
However, there are plenty of apps that let you do group emails. One such app is DW
Contacts ( http://bit.ly/193RkM6 ) . Although designed for Android phones, it works well on
tablets as well. To send an email blast (assuming you have one or more Gmail groups already
set up), open DW Contacts, then tap Groups at the bottom of the screen. Tap the group you
wish to email, then tap the menu icon at the upper right corner of the screen. Select “Send
email to shown contacts”. You can tap to uncheck anyone you don't wish to include in this
email. At the top of the screen, you can select whether the address will be in the To, CC
(copy to), or BCC (blind copy to) address fields. When finished, tap OK, then select the
Gmail app. Compose your email, then tap the Send icon at the top right of the screen.
