In-Depth Information
Watching some videos embedded in web pages requires Adobe Flash Player, which is
no longer supported by Adobe. You can still watch Flash video by manually installing
an archived copy of the Flash Player app from the Adobe website, and then installing a
browser that supports it, such as Dolphin. See Flash Video .
Dolphin Sonar is a voice search feature similar to Google Voice. It also lets you share on
social networks, bookmark pages, and get directions.
Firefox
Firefox is a very popular browser that is available for all platforms. It also lets you sync
across multiple devices.
One of Firefox's major strong points is the many add-ons available for both the Android
and desktop versions. Adblock is one of the most popular add-ons, because as the name
implies it lets you block and control those annoying pop-up ads. You can set Adblock's fil-
tering level to let unobtrusive ads through, if you wish.
Firefox supports many different video formats but not Flash. It does support HTML5.
A reader mode, accessed from an icon at the right end of the search bar, declutters web
pages so you can concentrate on the text.
Firefox is also one of the fastest browsers out there.
Maxthon
Like Chrome and Firefox, Maxthon lets you synchronize bookmarks and settings across
multiple devices, including iOS devices such as the iPad and iPhone, Android, Mac, and
PC. Unfortunately, Maxthon is not available for Linux computers.
Maxthon is a tabbed browser with the same appearance on all devices. It also features speed
dial, which lets you put your favorite sites on the Quick Access Page. This page opens
when you open a new tab, and contains small icons that you can tap to go directly to a fa-
vorite page.
Maxthon is free and does not contain ads.
