Uninstalling Apps
To remove an app from the device, open the Apps Drawer, find the app, and long-press and
drag it to Uninstall at the top of the screen, then release the app. Tap OK on the confirma-
tion screen.
Reinstalling Apps
All apps that you've installed from Google Play are archived indefinitely, and you can rein-
stall them at any time. This means that if you buy a new Android tablet or phone, you can
reinstall any of your apps. Also, you only buy an app once and then can install it freely on
as many Android devices as you have.
To reinstall an app, go to Google Play on the device or on your computer, find the app, and
tap Install. Select the device if you have more than one. Apps that you own are marked
with a check mark.
You can also install an app that you already own onto a different device by tapping Install.
A drop down list shows all of your devices that are compatible with the app.
Widgets
Widgets are active icons of various sizes that can be installed on your Home screens and
lock screen. Some apps come with widgets, while other widgets are bought separately from
Google Play. Widgets can add a lot to the usefulness of your phone or tablet by showing
active content such as clocks, the date and time, weather, battery charge, calendars, con-
tacts, text messages, notes, social media apps, control buttons, music players, bookmarks,
and much more.
Adding Widgets to Home Screens
Open the App Drawer and go to Widgets by tapping on Widgets at the top of the screen or
swiping left until they appear. Long-press and drag the desired widget onto a Home screen
and release it. Most widgets will present a configuration screen, which may be simple or
complex depending on the widget. Some configuration screens have a Save icon which you
must tap to save your configuration and create the widget.
