Location Services
In order to calculate directions to your destination, your device has to know where you are.
It uses a feature called “Location Services” to find your location, using Wi-Fi networks and
GPS satellites. If you attempt to navigate when Location Services is turned off, you'll be
asked if you want to turn it on, and taken to Location settings if you answer yes.
Unless you are trying to maximize battery life, you should have both GPS and Wi-Fi loc-
ation turned on. GPS is more accurate, but Wi-Fi works in places such as buildings where
the device can't receive the GPS satellites.
Navigation Options
Tap the From and To location bar at the top of the screen to show navigation options. Tap
the icon to navigate by car, public transportation, bicycle, or on foot. At the bottom of this
box, you can select route options, including avoiding toll roads and highways.
Another box shows the distance and time under current traffic conditions. Below that, you
can view alternate routes to your destination.
