The Weather Channel
As the only 24-hour cable TV weather source, it's not surprising that The Weather Channel
focuses on weather videos from around the world. Their Android app ( http://bit.ly/
17MHLTY ) has simple screens that can be tapped to show details. It defaults to the current
weather at your present location. Tapping the large weather icon opens the weather and
astronomical details for the day. You can touch the tabs at the top of the screen or swipe
sideways to show radar, the current weather, the forecast, and weather videos.
NOAA Weather+
NOAA Weather+ ( http://bit.ly/1xKqWCd ) is a paid app that presents NWS daily and
hourly forecasts, as well as radar images. From the app, you can directly access satellite
images as well as the technical forecast discussion and the NWS web site.
You can tap the NOAA Weather+ icon at the top left of the screen toggle between the map
view and a list of saved locations. You can also search for and save other locations by tap-
ping the search icon at the top of the screen. Then you can jump to any saved location by
choosing it from the list. Long-press any location name to delete or rename it.
At first glance, NOAA Weather+ doesn't seem to offer as much weather information as
some other apps. However, since it offers direct access to the NWS web site, you can get
any weather product available from NWS, including digital forecasts, climate data, severe
weather and hurricane information, satellite images, and much, much more.
