Keeping up with the News
All the major news sources such as CNN, NBC, NPR, the New York Times, AP, Reuters,
and many more have dedicated free apps. Some of these apps give you unlimited access,
while others such as the New York Times require a digital or print subscription for unlimited
access. To find news apps, go to Google Play on your device or a computer, select Apps, and
search for “news” ( http://bit.ly/1iKkm71 ).
Google News
Another way to keep up with the news is a news feed such as Google News
( news.google.com ) . Google News aggregates news from primary sources worldwide, so you
can see how the same story is reported in different countries, not just your home country.
And you can create custom filters to show news topics of your choice.
You can access Google News via a web browser on Android or a computer, or choose from
many apps ( http://bit.ly/1a5cVqb ).
Flipboard
Flipboard ( http://bit.ly/14VarZ7 ) is one of the best news apps. Flipboard can display feeds
from social sites such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Google Plus, and Twitter, as well as Google
News and many others. Flipboard can replace dozens of separate news and social apps. You
can choose from a list of social and news media accounts and add news feeds by category.
Flipboard then presents your news and feeds in a beautiful magazine layout that you flip
through in a natural manner that is a perfect match for touchscreen devices. You can tap on
any story to open the full story. From there, you can share the story via email and social sites
as well as open the original web page.
Feedly
Feedly ( http://bit.ly/16DaObq ) is a news aggregator app that is especially good for blogs and
RSS feeds, though you can certainly use it as a news feed.
