Turning your Phone or Tablet On for the First Time
If you bought an unlocked LTE tablet or an unlocked phone, you'll need to take your device
to a cell phone company to buy cell service and get a SIM card. Normally, the sales rep sets
up your phone or tablet for you. In some cases, when you buy a device with a cell contract
from an online retailer, you'll have to insert the SIM card and do the setup yourself. In this
case, follow the instructions that came with the phone or tablet.
Once your tablet or phone is fully charged, or at least connected to the charger, you can turn
it on by momentarily pressing the power button. If your device was set up by a cell com-
pany, you should be ready to start using it. If not, follow the on-screen set-up instructions.
When set-up is complete, you'll be on the Home screen.
If you have a Wi-Fi-only tablet, you'll need a Wi-Fi connection to complete the setup.
Getting Around on Android
Physical Buttons and Ports
Most Android devices have three physical buttons and two ports. The power button is used
to turn on the device when it has been completely powered down, as mentioned above. When
the device is on but sleeping (the normal state, with a blank screen), a momentary press of
