Kindle Books
Amazon Kindle books have their own proprietary format but there is a free Kindle app for
Android ( http://bit.ly/1a2YJNe ) so you can read Kindle books without owning a Kindle e-
reader. With the Kindle app, you can not only read Kindle books, magazines, newspapers,
and blogs, you can also shop in the Amazon Kindle store. This gives you access to more
than two million paid Kindle titles and another two million free, public domain titles.
Registering Your Kindle App
In order to buy books and other content from the Kindle Store, you'll need to have an
Amazon account and also register the Kindle App with Amazon. If you don't have an ac-
count, go to Amazon.com to create one. The first time you open the Kindle App you'll be
prompted for your Amazon email address and password.
Amazon Cloud
Just as with Google Play books, the first time you open a Kindle book, it is downloaded to
your device and you do not have to have a Wi-Fi or LTE connection to read it in the fu-

(even if the price is zero) is stored in the Amazon Cloud and you can retrieve it at any time.

home screen has a Menu bar at the top of the screen. Tap the Menu icon at the left to see
the main menu, which lets you view all items, items downloaded to your device, books,
personal docs, newsstand items including magazines, newspapers and blogs, and go to the
Kindle store. You can also access settings, app info, send feedback, and get help.
Other icons on the Menu bar give you access to the Kindle Store and let you synchronize
the app. Synchronizing downloads any new content you've purchased as well as personal
documents you've emailed to Amazon for conversion. See Personal Documents .
The Carousel occupies the middle of the screen and shows your most recently accessed
content. Swipe left to scroll the Carousel, and tap any item to view it. If the item is not
