Reading Books and Magazines
With your Android tablet or phone, you have access to millions of books and thousands of
magazines through Google Play, Amazon Kindle, Kobo, Project Gutenberg, libraries, and
other sources. In addition, you can rent textbooks through Google Play.
Google Play Books
As with everything else in the Google Play store, you can shop on the computer at
play.google.com/store/books or from the Play Store and Play Books apps. From the Books
home page, you can search for books or browse by category or genre. Categories include
new arrivals in fiction and nonfiction, top selling, and top free.
When you find a book that looks interesting, tap it to open the detail page. On the detail
page, you can add the book to your wishlist, share with friends, try a free sample, and buy
the book. You'll also see the publisher and publication date, the length of the topic, the pub-
lisher's description, reader reviews, and about the author.
Take advantage of the free sample, especially with authors you don't know. There are no
strings attached and reading the free sample gives you a chance to see if you like the topic
before spending any money. It's the electronic book equivalent of browsing in a physical lib-
rary or bookstore.
To read a book that you've bought, go to My Library in the Play Store or Play Books app
and tap on the book to open it. Books always open at the last place read.
