In-Depth Information
Watching Movies and TV
On Google Play, you can choose from thousands of movies and TV shows to watch. Movies
and shows are available to buy or rent, depending on the specific video. Videos that you buy
are saved to your Google Play library and are available for streaming to your phone, tablet
or a computer for viewing any time. Videos that you rent are available for varying amounts
of time from the time of purchase and after you start watching the video. You can review the
rental period during the payment process.
Videos can also be downloaded to a phone or tablet (but not to a computer) for offline view-
ing when you don't have an Internet connection, such as on an airplane. Keep in mind that
videos use very large amounts of memory so you won't be able to store very many on your
device unless it has an SD or micro-SD memory card slot. For example, a 90-minute feature
film in HD uses about 1.4GB of storage.
Shopping for Movies and TV Shows
You can shop from the device or on a computer. On the computer, go to play.google.com and
then click on Movies and TV. On your phone or tablet, open the Play Store app or the Play
Movies & TV app. The shopping experience is very similar on Android and on a computer.
You can search for a movie, browse new movie and TV releases, top movies and TV, and
browse by genre.
Once you've found an interesting video, tap it to see the detail page. On the detail page, you
can save the video to your wishlist, share it with others, see the cost to buy or rent, view
trailers, read the synopsis, and read reviews. There is also information on the cast and credits
and the run time, as well as the rental period.
