The color gamuts of the real printer and the tuned virtual printer model after 1-D
channel-wise TRC matching are shown in Figure 10.61. There is a signi
cant
improvement in the internal color matching after performing this step though it is
not visible in Figure 10.61.
10.7.5 T UNING R ESULTS
The
D E a * statistics between the tuned virtual printer model and a real printer for
the 1617 GRAYCol color set are shown in Table 10.16. There is still a signi
cant
error between the tuned model and the real printer. There are two main reasons
for this are (1) the physical color model does not accurately represent the dark part
of the gamut and (2) there is a need for better optimization of color mixing
coef
cients.
