called spot colors. They can be de

Pantone colors (Figure 8.26), customer logo colors, colors in a customer
ned as a

etary marked patterns, or customer-de
ned colors in the form of an index color table
[8]. Spot colors are often used, or can be used, for large background areas, which
may be the most color-critical portion of a particular page. Consistent color in these
areas may make the difference between success and failure in meeting the color-
consistency requirements.
