CITY SQUARES: Although the scale of this map is too small to allow much detail to be shown within
the area of the town, it does mark the positions of the five squares that still characterise central
Adelaide. The central square is named after Queen Victoria, who succeeded William IV to the throne
in June 1837. Two of the other squares are named after Light and Hindmarsh.
